Hi all,
I am looking for places where older system versions for all Newton and
eMate models can be downloaded. It is fairly easy to get the latest
version for each model, but I haven't found any place where official
versions earlier than the latest version can be downloaded. Is there
such a place? They are definitely not at unna or at Apple.
I need this information because I am working on a list of slots the
frame returned by the Gestalt global system function has. For every
Newton / eMate model, for every official os ever released. Obviously, if
such a list already exists, I would be thankful for a tip.
I am aware that
a) it isn't normally possible to install an older version over a newer
one on the MP2000 / 2100 / eMate.
b) I can get OMP / MP 100 / 110 / 120 / 130 Newtons back to the first
officially released system version by doing a hard reset.
If you have a system version that is older than the latest official one
and not the one a OMP / MP 100 / 110 / 120 / 130 has after a hard reset,
would you care to get in touch with me off-list?
I know that this list isn't exactly the place for posting questions like
that. Unfortunately, comp.sys.newton.programmer seems to be almost dead.
The latest post (by Laurent) was more than a month ago (until I posted
one myself, that is, which hasn't been answered until I answered it
myself a couple of minutes ago). Is there some place other than
comp.sys.newton.programmer to ask programmer's questions? I hate wasting
Paul's time with problems I might have been able to solve on my own...
