I like the USR/3Com 28.8 or 33.6 BPS cards with xjack...

Gotta have that xjack.

I have used several of these cards including one branded Gateway (said
USR on the back).

All have worked with the existing modem driver.

56K doesn't seem to go any faster anyhow, and it sucks more juice.
