   Make sure it's a Mac printer cable (such as one for a stylewriter). A modem cable will not work and they're impossible to tell apart without checking which pins are connected.
   If you have a serial printer see if the cable works with it. If it does, then try connecting using a serial connection (rather than AppleTalk) with the cable.
