Don't you have to set LocalTalk (under preferences) to use EtherTalk to use
an ethernet card? That sounds like it's what's causing the -61001.
When I was trying (unsucessfully) to use AppleTalk, I remember getting a lot
of those errors until I switched LocalTalk from EtherTalk to AppleTalk. I
had been using my ethernet card to connect to the Internet.
