For those who are looking for a cheap switch to set up a network that
the Newton can connect to via Ethernet. I use a 4-port Gigafast switch
and it works fine. It has self-configuring ports, so there is no
special 'uplink' port to connect to a cable modem. You can connect
anything to any port. And of course, I have no financial connection to
GigaFast or newegg.
newegg.com offers the GigaFast EZ800-S 8-port 10/100Base-T switch for
$25, as a reader found. A $15 mail-in rebate yields a net price of $10
. That's $5 less than yesterday's mention and shipping is free . (A
newegg.com T-Shirt can be added to this order at no additional cost.)
