Well, not the battery on my main newton, that one is fine. It's the
spare we picked up when newts were going dirt cheap in boxes of ten. I
figured I'd use it to play with newton development, so I don't have to
worry about nuking my regular newton. (BTW, is there a good newton
*backup* program - not a sync program - for either Linux or OS X? I
used to use NCU in classic, but don't have classic anymore, and haven't
gotten basilisk talking to my newt yet. I haven't backed up my newton
in over a year.)
Anyhow, I've charged and discharged it about six times in the last few
days. If I don't plug the power cord in as soon as it's fully
discharged and turns itself off (no low battery warning) then I have to
do strange things like put the power adapter in/out/in/out/in/out oh
look, it turned on! A couple of times even that didn't work and I had
to leave the battery out and the power unplugged for a few hours, before
it turned on. Then I had to play with it to get it to start charging.
It was at 100% about 1 minute ago; now it's at 20%. Dropping smoothly,
but frighteningly fast. When I plugged it back in, it only took a few
minutes to read 100% again, and I know that can't be right.
Should I keep trying, or is this battery a lost cause?
MP2100, NiMH.
Thanks,
-Rhonda
