I used the PenReader with my Newton. The interface between the Newt and
the Pen was a piece of cake. HOWEVER, I was not at all happy with the
PenReader. I found it difficult to use and it's translation abilities
were weak ay best. AFAIK, there are other products that function as
hand scanners that are superior in performance, but I don't know to
what extent they can or cannot be used with a Newton. I think MacWorld
had an article comparing these hand scanners about two years ago.

One disclaimer: I have virtually no manual dexterity. You might have
much better results using the PR than I did.
