Uhm, Emamnuel do you mean the Siemens Pocket Reader? The text scanner?
And Dave, what is that PenReader? I just gave it a Google, and all I
got looked like cyrillic sites pointing to a tablet magazine.
Anyway, I have the Siemens Pocket Reader, and while I hardly use it,
it is quite okay. It is not that easy to scan with it, one really has
to practice. I keep it in my Newton bag when on campus in case I am
too lazy to type or scribble something down which is there in print
anyway. Now if it was not for that insane person ripping official
documents off the walls the university would not have put all major
information into glass boxes, I would do much more scanning...
The software for the Newton is fine, works great. The problem is
connecting the hardware. While I am still too lazy to learn how to
solder, and it seems most difficult to get one's hands on certain
plugs without cable in between, my solution is a cable of about 20
feet. Which I keep at home. Hidden.
BTW, a fellow student I met in my language class (who, to my
surprise, has an UMP2000 in his basement, and it's a NEWTON
TECHNOLOGY one (!) but who does not use it, for whatever reason) has
one of those Hexaglot Quicktionary translators, which is truely more
impressive scanwise than the Pocket Reader, but OTOH it can neither
save nor transfer text.. there seem to be Quickpens that can also
transfer to PC, but it's all Windows-only crap ... *ouch*
