Hello all,
the first release of Blunt, the Bluetooth stack for the Newton is
ready. It contains already everything which should be in the final
version, but might not work properly or at all - crashes and reboots
are to be expected. Still, I'm currently using it to connect via PPP
and a Nokia 3650 and to send some data back and forth.
Blunt requires a PCMCIA Bluetooth card which uses a UART interface. It
has to be a Type II card, CardBus cards won't work with the Newton. I'm
using the PICO Bluetooth card which often shows up on eBay. Promising
but untested are the Pretec and Air2Net BT2000 cards, as well as some
internal Bluetooth modules (this is a hardware developer opportunity).
Blunt is certainly not stable yet, but that's what you get with a 0.1
release ;) As usual, Windows support is a bit more problematic but I'm
working on it.
To get the most out of Blunt, you also need the latest version of Neo
(don't upgrade Neo if you don't plan to use Blunt) and the new NIE
Nitro & Blunt Support module.
