Actually you can install an airport card in your iMac and use that as a
wireless router (see the sharing pref pane)

This is good too, I have one of those el cheapo 3com 10t cards, works
flawlessly for me.

It seems possible, although I am unclear on exactly how the wifi is
rigged...
