Rolf,
I don't know if it is a hub or a switch ('scuse the ignorance), but
it says Etherwave PC Card Connector on the back and it came with my
Farallon card. One end plugs into the card and there are two ethernet
ports on it. Perhaps I need to get a hub?

It is connected directly from the card connector to my cable modem.
No DGCP server at my end.
Maybe I can get around this by connecting via my PowerBook with a
serial connection, so if anyone can give me some instruction on that
method...I'm all ears. I have tried that a few times but never managed
to ge tit to work.
