Hello Everybody:
I have been in the process of converting the original MP 2X00 manual from
.pdf format to Newton book (.pkg) format. I'm finding that it's a lot more
challenging to convert a technical manual, as opposed to converting a novel.
There is a lot of formatting work to do yet, but things seem to be
progressing nicely:
Step 1 - Converted the .pdf document to the .rtf format.
Step 2 - Removed redundant white space and hard returns
Step 3 - Reformatting individual process steps and subheadings
So far, I am on page 49 of an (currently; it grows as changes are added)
86-page .rtf document. Once I have all of the text formatted, I will create a
table of contents. A key challenge will be to "import" the .rtf file into the
NewtonPress window. Then, I will have to copy and past each graphic image from
the .pdf file (I'll just be adding the main graphics and will leave the
little pictures of buttons out of the document).
This is going to look pretty nice when it's done. Just think -- a complete
Newton reference manual -- accessible from your Newton! :O)
