It don't remember if it's a serial port or a modem, anyway, it doesn't
answer to AT commands.

There are some linux tools, I suppose there's some source code. look
here:

The data inside the rex is also database-like, so it's probably easy to
actually sync it with the newton.
I really like the Rex6000.
