Well, in the slip that pops up when the wavelan card is inserted, "use
this card for AppleTalk" was unchecked, and I couldn't find that setting
in the Internet Setup.

But I checked in prefs, and set appletalk to use ethertalk and my wired
ethernet card. Now to convince the old mac it wants to boot again (dodgy
hardware, I think... it randomly claims that it can't find the system
disk, but other times it can...)

Thanks for the suggestion!
