Actually the backup capacitor (in a 2x00) will only hold a charge for
say a hour. But it only powers the clock and pen calibration. The rest
of the data is held in Flash RAM so it does not need power to retain it.
Now the earlier models (1x0) did not use Flash RAM (they used SRAM),
however they did have a backup battery that can hold all the data for
months or years before needing replacement. So even with these models
unless you left your Newt for a LONG time, your data will still be there
when you come back. :)
