Yesterday I hard reset my newton, and reinstall the simple mail again.
It can work now. Chinese and Japanese mail are no problem.

What exactly does not work? Does it connect? Or does it just not
display the mail properly in japanese or chinese mail? If reading is
the problem, I think there may be plugins for better display of
character sets. I am not sure though as I never tried it. You can try
contacting the author Simon Bell. His address should be on the simple
mail site.
If connecting is the problem, could you give a little more explanation
as to when it fails and what kind of error you get?
