Hmm your right it isn't truncated! But if I go back into the
preferences and save them with the dots, then the dots are saved and
the authentication fails. I guess its a bug in the way the preferences
screen reads the information out of the prefs, since it is able to
store long user ID's just fine.

Actually, I think there is an upper limit on the number of messages
MailV can handle. My inbox has 700-some-odd messages. I cleaned out
the IMAP server down to 100 and things seem to be much happier.
