I have tried the Newton Talk archives and didn't find the answers.
The problem seems to be linked to the Preferences - if I set the Apple
Talk prefs to use Ethernet and the relevant card, I get the 61001 error
at the Dock Chooser stage. If I leave the Prefs to Local Talk then it
will try and look for other Macs on the network but not actually find
any.
The Mac is a Cube and should have no problems using a x-over cable I
would have thought.
Thanks for the ideas, support and threats of physical violence - it all
helps!
