I should have asked a few other questions (hey, it was the weekend, my brain
deserves a vacation! :)

When you insert the card, does a card slip for it pop-up? This card should
trigger such a pop-up. If it doesn't then the card isn't compatible with the
driver.

Make sure you have loaded:
-NIE 2.0 (base package)
-Newton Devices
-NIE Ethernet
-ATLAN8
