Actually, AFAIK the original Newton "cigarette pack" modem was only 2400
baud and faxed at 9600 baud. The only reason I know this is 'cause I was
corrected on it recently. ;-)
Some ISP's may not support such a slow modem these days. :-(
I would say check with the modem's manufacturer. If it says Hayes command
set compatible you should be GTG.
