It might be a good idea in your case. Make two fresh complete backups
(one should be enough, but two is for the careful types ;-)
Format any cards you have in your Newt with the card app, remove the
card and do the brain wipe (how-to should be in the FAQ)
Next do a full restore but without any system info, to avoid getting
your problems back.
Do keep your serial numbers handy, you might have to reenter some...
