It's VERY important to do the hinge repair! It's also very easy, in
Toronto I saw a pre-teen girl do hers. OK, a very bright pre-teen, but
nonetheless. Here's a picture of a working emate with a slipped hinge
spring. Any day that spring could pierce the ribbon and no amount
soldering is going to help.
