That's the point, as long as the account does not have any server-side
filtering in place, it does not require ANY additional folders (in
addition to Inbox that is) in order to function. So the idea of a
client creating folders to get an account working is moot. (It is
rather the case that the client cannot operate without the folders. It
is therefore not a good client. Mail V does not appear to have this
problem in my experience.)

I don't know either, but I'm pretty sure its got nothing to do with the
presence or absence of folders. I had a trial run on a completely new
IMAP set-up (Mirapoint, which is based on Courier) in which there was
nothing other than Inbox and it worked a treat.

I think we need more info.
