I have successfully gotten my Newton to read text from my Pocket Reader
Scanner. Since I wasn't sold the appropriate cable, I had to make my
own. I started with the drawing at:
http://www.8ung.at/pocketreader/_pr_e.htm
but couldn't get anything to read. On closer inspection, you can see
that this wiring has crossed the TxD and RxD lines--I suppose this is
some kind of null modem wiring. Since it wasn't working, I reversed the
RxD and TxD lines and was pleasantly surprised to have PRreader import
the text into my MP2100. Now with a little solder and electrical tape,
I can make a permanent cable.
If you are interested in drawings of my wiring, please contact me
off-list and I'll send a Word document with the schematic.
