I think TI invented it and used it and Apple licensed it. (NuBus is a
trademark of Texas Instruments)
They were the only personal computer manufacturer of note to use it.
And it was way better than the ISA bus in PC's at the time, and still
had lots of technical advantages over PCI.

But, PCI went in every Dell, Compaq, etc and so sheer volume made PCI
the standard rather than technical merit.
