I use mine as a diary when I'm on the train. I live in Japan, and
commute to work, and as anyone who's lived here before knows, commutes
can be up to 2 hours 1 way. That leaves me with a lot of free time, so
I use my Newton mostly as a diary where I write down thoughts & ideas
and anything I need to remember.

Newtons are rather rare on this side of the Pacific, and in my 3 years
on this island, I've yet to see another person using one. Not to
mention the fact that they are expensive: An eMate can go for almost
$600 and an MP2000/2100 w/network card(s), modem, etc. can run for
almost $800. Aside from the obvious emotional attachment, there's also
the attachment that comes from investing so much money in one, but the
subway's are safe, as are the trains.

When using it in public, I almost always get double-takes, and smiles
from the Apple faithful. I had one guy say "WHOA! What is THAT? An
antique?" The HWR never fails to impress ;^)
