You know, friends,

I guess everybody here is aware of the fact that off topic
posts should not normally be posted to a list. I must admit,
though, that I have sometimes dared to post an off topic question
nonetheless.

I usually do this after searching the web and googling to my
hearts content for an hour or more in vain. For me this is
basic mathematics. If I spend another three hours in the
internet, this is time in which I would be able to fix most
problems any Newton can develop. Even the most time-consuming
repair I know which is replacing 5 surface mount resistors on
a MP130 mainboard and soldering an IC back where it belongs.
Or I could spend 3 hours making my NewtTest app better. 3 hours
is also 75% of the time it took me to write CurWatch.

If I post OT questions to the list, someone will most likely know it
and tell me. Which admittedly would result in a bit more list
traffic. But also in one more Newton fixed or 0.75 apps of the
CurWatch type being written.

I think that this would be what the Newton community benefits
more from.

Just my very own and admittedly utterly unimportant opinion.

Frank
