Actually I went and looked and Gimpprint definitely says that
Postscript Level 1 printers are supported.

This means it will work, when configured correctly :~)

PS I would look at the Gimpprint homepage for directions. Usually
using the "advanced" mode in print center or the browser based CUPS
configuration will do it...
