Split this further down:

1. First lid and clips only.
2. Then top and bottom case. (maybe even split this - 2. top of case first,
3. bottom next).
3. Lastly (if demands exists and people preorder) all the small parts.

-- Gives you more achievable sub-steps, requires less money to get started,
and will build much confidence (between you and the manufacturer, and
between potential customers and you). The lid is a virtually support-free
product, can be produced relatively cheap and might help raise the money
for the next steps. -- What do you think?

I think starting with a lid, you could offer a pre-subscription rate to
pre-finance this step. The individual risk on the customer side will not be
as high as for the whole case, so many people will get into this and place
preorders. No contract is needed for this. And then everything just
develops, step by step.

D'accord.

Any Japanese Newtonian here at NTLK who can help out? Or any expats in
Japan who might help researching? Come on guys, your Newton needs you! ;=}

I was thinking along the lines that moulding and stuff like this is an
engineering process that is taught in part at applied sciences
universities. People who earn their degrees there will be pretty
professional, and possibly could be interested in doing something like this
as a project. Check local universities and post a note in the respective
hallways, or just ask the Dean or send a mail to the faculty's student
council. Worth a try.

There's been good offers by Ken Bush, Doug A. and Frank, so this base
should be considered covered.

What is REALLY needed would be an offer to install a bunch of
BlinkyLights(TM) like Stephanie Maks did. ;=}

I think production could be estimated at 50 cases, possibly more if there's
also some preorders by distributors (cheers GEM and J & K!) and some PR at
Mac blogs and mags around the world, plus 150 lids.

>My next update may be towards the end of Sept or Dec/04.

Please don't let us wait so long, don't be cruel to us! ;=} No, honestly -
look into doing the lid first and whether or not this could be done by end
of August, in time for the conference. Wouldn't that just rock...

Cheers,

DJV.
