That doesn't make sense. Unless this person went to town doing surgery
on the Newt, next to the IR under the flap should be (from left to
right):
Power Adapter receptacle, Interconnect port, then a covered area (might
have a 2100 sticker if it was factory upgraded). The interconnect port
is where you make serial connections, but you need the dongle to
interface between the interconnect port and the serial cable. So what
is covered in plastic?
