Jefferey,
I agree, what they say is true, but it doesn't help *me* much. I bought the
socket card a couple years ago on ebay, thinking it would be my
dongle-killer. When I insert it, the Newt does in fact pop up the message
saying "A communication card has been inserted". But then what? Dock
doesn't add it to it's list of connections. Maybe something like PT-100
would recognize it and use it, but I never bothered to install that.

Subject: [NTLK] Socket Serial PCMCIA Card
Date: Sat, 17 Jul 2004 11:49:22 -0400
In the past I know people had been looking for a
driver for the Socket
serial PCMCIA cards, so I sent a tech support
request to the company
for more info and got this response:
Here is the information directly from our
manual for the card at that
time:
"The IO card needs no special installation
for the Apple Message Pad
the Apple Powerbook or the Sharp Zaurus. Simply
plug the card into an
available PC card slot and it will be
recognized as a communications
port."
So anyhow, hopefully this can be of help to some
people interested in
getting extra serial ports for your Newton!
