Ed is a bit confused.

The lightbulb is a "system busy" type of thing - think of the hourglass mouse
cursor on Windows or Mac or Linux. Similar thing

The *star* means that there are applications minimized, or deferred events
waiting for attention. Tapping on the star brings up a list of these apps /
events.

To get to your problem... you should probably look at using Newt's Cape. I
use it to browse IMDb all the time from the couch.
