Well the other reason for the demise of the PDA is that
full blown computers keep shrinking. Checkout

Subject: [NTLK] PDA Market
Wow! Sony announced today that it is no longer making the clie forthe
US market. As a long time pda users (see list at end), I am saddened to
see what appears to be the beginning of the end of the PDA as we know
it. Guess I'm one of the few people that doesn't want to have my pda on
my cell phone. I had hoped that more companies would have put out linux
based pda's but that has never materialized. Now with Handspring and
Sony gone from POS and Casio and Toshiba gone from PocketPC, the
options are getting very scarce. Hope my current handhelds hold up a
while.
One other thing, I seem to remember hearing that the Newton OS only
goes up to a certain year. Is this true and what year would that be?
