There's a very easy way to get a TCP/IP connection in your newton if you
have a Windows XP machine. I was planning to make a good manuel for this,
but it's urgent so:
** in the windows PC:
start
control panel
network connections
create new conection
advanced connection
accept incoming conections
select com ports (phisical ports, irda, bluetooth)
don't allow VPN
users, doesn't matter
next
finish
** in the newton:
Serial/BT/irda setup
protocol: PPP
Configuration: server
user ID: blahblah (doesn't matter)
disconnect : never
primary DNS: (put your ISP DNS here)
domain name: none
login script: send: CLIENTCLIENT
send: (inverted P, cr)
wait for: CLIENTSERVER
done
(if it's a direct serial setup) Advanced settings: port: serial port
data rate: 115200
parity: none
stop bits: 1
That's all!
This will allow you to browse the 'net at a reasonable speed, it's what
I use to share my DSL connection with my newton via BlueTooth and serial.
To get your html files, if you don't have a server already, get this
one: http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/sswww.htm , and
browse your PC with nethopper, newtscape, Courier, etc. Double click in
the connection icon in the tool bar, to find the IP adresses.
