Well besides the OqO the New Sharp Zaurus-6000
has these (the Screen is full VGA resolution)
no HD but more portable and 64 Mb flash so lots more
room then original Newts. The OS is Linux, and while
not "NewtOS" we could put together an Open Source project
to emulate the Newt to replicate the functionality.
Using system process for say a "Soup Manager" and applications
to replicate the Calendar/Notes/Names functions. The handwriting
recognition part will be difficult unless there are some good and
public algorithms for bitmap -> to text recognition

Subject: [NTLK] [OT] The future of handheld devices?

Hi all,

Has anyone seen the OQO handheld PC (www.oqo.com) being released this US
fall?

It has everything the Newton would have had by now...
- Integrated keyboard
- Colour screen
- Bluetooth
- 802.11b
- USB
- WinXP (ok, not so good..)
- 20GB HDD
- Docking station

The list goes on. Looks like my team will have to "test" a few of these :)

Regards,

Chris
