Around 900k is normal for an eMate without the memory upgrade.
There are two types of memory in every Newton or eMate. The
one used to run the programs in (heap), and the one to store
said programs in. Heap gets smaller with every installed
package regardless of whether it is currently active or not.
Installing the memory upgrade will bring the heap to about
3900k or so.
