Re: [NTLK] OT on the list and in the digest

I am in digest mode and read through what has accumulated every few
days. The biggest thing about off topic messages is that nobody seems
to realize when all the pertinent points have been covered and let the
topic die.

In an on topic thread, a point is brought up, a relevant reply follows,
and few messages provide enhancements, the topic is covered and ends.
If off topic threads followed the same pattern, little inconvenience or
upheaval would be created. I think in very simple terms whether a topic
is a question of fact and procedure or fundamental core values, there
are only a few relevant points to support either the value or the
procedure. Once those points have been made all that follows is "me
too" posts. "Me too" posts are annoying whether generated by on topic
or off topic posts.

Of course being in digest mode I always appreciate considerate quoting
and short signatures.
