There is a backdrop on UNNA that might be what you are thinking of -
I've never looked at it, myself... You can find it at:

As far as I know there is no Magic Cap program for the Newton. Am I
wrong?!? If so I'd love to know. Magic Cap is an operating system
written by General Magic for portable devices, notably the Sony
MagicLink PIC-1000 and PIC-2000 and later the DataRover 840. There was
also Magic Cap for Windows, a program that would emulate that
environment on a Windows computer; and a Mac version was in development
though I have never personally seen that one and don't think it ever
made it to market. Magic Cap was a great but limited OS and IMHO its
lack of features makes the Newton a clear winner in the battle of the
PDAs. I do have a Datarover and love it - it's got such character -
but all I can think when I turn it on is "...if only development had
continued..."
Hope that helps,
Dan
