It sounds like you are having at least some fun, though not the
expected sort. It sounds like you have a good display and digitizer at
least and a case that will stay together.
If I were in your situation I would carefully clean any corroded
connections, reverse the foam pad that supports the digitizer
connection, repair damaged connectors and reassemble. I would attempt
to confirm continuity of all wires since a poor reassembly could have
pinched or even severed some.
