Do you have access to a wireless LAN with a printer on it ? Eg a
LaserJet or something similar with AppleTalk enabled ?

At least via the Newton you should be able to 'see' the printer via
AppleTalk or possibly access the printers Webadmin interface (if it
has one; most modern workgroup printers do) via Newtscape.

That way at least you can verify IP/AppleTalk is working on the Newt
side of things before tackling the PowerBook.
