the Newton, and said emulator requires ROM images in order to work. So I
would think the discussion of how to obtain the images for the emulator
would be on topic, or at least reasonably close to being on topic.

Indeed, but unless there's a legal and above board method of obtaining
them (like www.starroms.com - but they do Atari games) they're not much use.
