A) we didn't know what we were doing
B) there was something wrong with *his* Newton's IR port or
C) there was something wrong with my Newton's IR port.

I have been beaming stuff between my MP2100 and an Emate recently.
Didn't work for me until I got the units about 7-7 inches away from each
other. I had them almost right up against each other but no joy and got
quite frustrated. But then beaming started working after I accidentally
bumped them apart. HTH
