[NTLK] Siemens Note Phone

I have a question for the list:

I purchased a Siemens Note Phone. My specific problem is:
I live in the Netherlands, the phone is german, made for the german
market.

Now, if I attach the phone to my dutch phoneline all I hear is static.
I do believe that the phone is working properly, since it will do basic
things when not attached, and it will produce a normal noise.

Does anyone know if a german phone will work on the dutch phonelines.
