I personally have been using the cursive recognition since 1995,
and my first OMP. Why? It's always given me consistent results and
mistakes are easier to spot (at least for me) than one-off letter
errors.

The key to getting cursive recognition working right for you is
to practice, practice, practice. Use the Handwriting Practice
application to help train the recogniser to your handwriting, and
spend time writing random notes into the Newton besides your normal
work. (I write entire e-mails to friends, short poems, and random
thoughts into my Notes whenever the mood strikes me.)

Within a short space of time, the Newton will adapt to your
handwriting style, and errors will get farther and farther apart.
Which is much better than I can say for the printed recogniser, which
always ends up spouting one-letter errors out that are nearly
invisible to me.

Just to be sure though, make sure you have the preference entry
"Learn my handwriting" enabled, otherwise it's all a moot point. ;)

My US$0.02,
Josef
