No Gmail is something different. Google is starting a new email
service. It is webmail and different from other free email services in
a couple of ways. First, they give you 1GB of online storage and
accomodates large messages with attachments up to 10MB. Some others
have starting increasing their online storage in response but this was
prompted by Google's announcement. Second, the web client has a Google
search engine built in, so you can search your old messages in your
archive effectively. Google encourages you to archive old messages
vs. deleting them for this reason. On the other hand, Google also
searches the old messages for advertising purposes. It doesn't
currently work with another webclient. Some 3rd party developers are
writing hacks. I've heard of one that allows you to use a Pop client
and another that makes the whole thing into a big online drive.
