[NTLK] NCU connection via Keyspan serial adaptor

Having had absolutely no success using NCU under Tiger's classic with =20=

AppleTalk on my Ali PB G4, I have been able to connect with a Keyspan =20=

twin serial USB adaptor (P/N USA-28X B). This will not be news to all =20=

those of you who already use this solution.

I tested backups, Works upload and download and package installation.

It works equally well with other Newton applications such as X-Port =20
(which works fine over AppleTalk).

Performance is the same as that with a native serial port on my G3 PB =20=

and slightly less than a LocalTalk connection but frankly, it's =20
hardly noticeable.

The adaptor is pricey (I paid =A347 + tax) but they are available on =20
eBay etc. I actually tried for one on eBay but was outbid in the last =20=

30 seconds - a typical experience.

This seems like an ideal way to travel with your gear and stay =20
connected using just the adaptor and a short serial cable.

Just for completeness, my LocalTalk connection comes from a Farallon =20
iPrint ethernet bridge, plugged into my network. Amazingly, this =20
thing still seems to be available should you want one. Also handy for =20=

attaching LocalTalk enabled StyleWriter or LaserWriter printers you =20
may have lying around.
