Sean,
> What's Einstein? How can I get it? Does it really work like A Newt?
I was too casual with this reference. Einstein is a Newton emulator
for Mac OS X created by Paul Guyot and info on it is here: <http://
www.kallisys.com/newton/einstein/>
Paul developed it primarily to better understand how the "black box"
elements of Newton OS operate and thereby create a deep development
tool with the intention of solving some of the bugs that remain in NOS.
By this astonishing effort Paul has also planted a seed of hope that
one day the emulator could work on top of a UNIX OS and appear in all
respects to be a Newton. By taking advantage of the functionality of
UNIX, such things as SSH, comms of various flavours and HW related
advances denied to Newton users without tortuous work arounds would
become possible.
There are many issues to be resolved and it's by no means certain
that this will happen. Paul is doing this in his own time so we can
only be grateful as a community that he has chosen to devote such
efforts on our behalf.
Joel.
