Morris was a car company until it was bundled up with Austin to form the
British Motor Company (BMC). Feel free to correct this all. After that,
Morris and Austin were brands within BMC, much like Dodge and Plymouth are
brands within Chrysler.
Like Dodge/Plymouth, Austin/Morris tended to make the same cars with small
trim and badge changes. That way if you absolutely hated Austins because
they were badly built, you could buy the same car as a Morris. Think of the
Omni/Horizon.
Lets see how far we can track the line BMC, BLMC, British Leyland, Leland,
JRT, Rover, (Honda), (BMW), MG Phoenix?, Chinese Government.
Take a look at www.austin-rover.co.uk for more.
