Ahhmmm! Actually, it does.
I deliberately used a 9 pin minidin on the SER-001. This follows the Geoport configuration and provides 5V on this pin. True, you need a 9 pin plug to access it but it IS there Johannes.

I am afraid that in case the receiver uses the 5V power from the Newt -
routed via the nice adapter - it will NOT work with the SER-001, because the
SER-001 does NOT provide +5V on the connector.
