Re: [NTLK] BT-001 v1.1 antenea?

"The 1.1 prototype currently has the following issues:

Range is limited. I can get around 5 ft with the back cover of the Newton off. Almost no range with the cover on. I haven't explored scraping off the shielding on the back cover. I hope this isn't due to bad RF design, but it probably is. "

You know for this you could create an antenea module that would not allow for tons of reception but complete the Newton's symetrically. Make a module that fits in the space where the Newton cover normally connects.

Orrr... have an antenea that covers thinly the inside of the newton cover, and have the connection to the blue tooth module run through the little knockout on the side of the Newton.

Always wanted to use that knockout for something!

Jake,

Looks great!

As far as the antenna goes, any reasonable way it could be moved to the
modem port cover? I was thinking a replacement cover with the antenna
embedded in it would keep it simple, but would allow the signal to
punch through to the outside. Of course, I'm neither an electrical
engineer nor an antenna specialist.
